Please Push Rewind...

Quotes from Braid, which may be the most amazing game I ever bought...

"Our world, with its rules of causality, has trained us to be miserly with forgiveness. By forgiving them too readily, we can be badly hurt. But if we've learned from a mistake and became better for it, shouldn't we be rewarded for the learning, rather than punished for the mistake?"

"But to be fully couched within the comfort of a friend is a mode of existence with severe implications. To please you perfectly, she must understand you perfectly. Thus you cannot defy her expectations or escape her reach. Her benevolence has circumscribed you, and your life's achievements will not reach beyond the map she has drawn."

I looked around at all the eyes on the ground, as the TV entertained it's self.

Have you ever had a moment when your entire life is put into perspective, and for one brief moment you can see the entire history of the universe and how your life fits in like a perfect piece of the puzzle; and as fast as you understood it disappeared?  It's a humbling experience, to say the least.  I promise I'm not doing drugs.  I think it's a higher powers way of telling me that everything will be ok in the end.  I want to believe that everything will be ok.  I wish I could understand these feelings I have about life.

I believe in Barack Obama

It's that simple. I don't agree with some of the things he says or wants to do, but I still believe in Barack Obama.

I believe in Barack Obama because I believe in America.

Thank You

Dancing In The Rearview

This weekend was a lot of fun.  Especially the very end, yeah.  It felt so go to be myself, and not be judged or criticized.  I'm really happy things turned out the way they did.  Thanks for helping me see I was right.  You are so amazing don't settle for anything less than perfect.

I'm really glad I'm not alone.

She's not bleeding on the ballroom floor just for the attention...

That's just ridiculous...ly odd...

I have been thinking about quotes a lot recently, maybe it's all the essay questions I have been thinking about.  Any way coming home tonight one kind of came into my mind.

"Fool me once, shame one me"

But, seriously how many times is this now?  I really wonder if there is some truth to what people tell me.  I guess it begs the question are the masses ever wrong?

YES

Two elections, well one, in a row.  Go out and vote.  I will say that both candidates have their flaws, but there is one obvious answer.  Go out and vote.  Our country is so much shit right now, every American needs to do their part and vote.

Anyway I have been meaning to post a blog about three amazing CDs I have been enjoying.  Here they are for your reading pleasure in descending order.

3. Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - Jingle All the Way
I know it's kind of early to be listening to christmas music, but this CD is great.  This CD reminds me more of their earlier records, ie self titled, instead of the more recent Hidden Land.  There is a larger focus on the original trio, and in this case its a good thing.  This is not to say that Jeff is not important, he is amazing on What Child is This?

This CD is a must listen, but I understand if you put it off till December

2.  Esbjorn Svensson Trio - Leucocyte
The last set of records from EST before Svensson passed away are an amazing tribute to every thing that the Esbjorn Svensson Trio was.  This CD is not as jazzy as their other CDs, like Tuesday Wonderland, instead there is a larger focus on avant-garde and classical music.  Don't get me wrong this recording is still EST through and through.

Not a great starting place, but defiantly a must listen.  I also highly recommend their Tuesday Wonderland and Live in Hamburg.

1. Minus the Bear - Acoustics
I discovered Minus the Bear last year when I picked up Planet of Ice on a whim at a record store.  I instantly fell in love with the dark electronic rock sound that PoI offered.  I have picked up Highly Refined Pirates, and while it is an excellent CD I still have a special place in my heart for PoI.  Any way back to Acoustics.  This EP features the new single Guns and Ammo.  This track is ok, but the rest of the CD is the real treat.  The other 6 songs are new acoustic arrangements of older Minus the Bear songs, most of which are from Planet of Ice.  This CD is a must by for fans of Minus the Bear and acoustic music in general.

You must listen to this CD.

Any way I need to get back to studying

So, Dreams Be Dreams...

I think it was Dr. Seuss that said:

"You know you're in love because you can't fall asleep
because reality is finally better than your dreams."

I think I'm experiencing the inverse.  I think I forgot what it was like to have someone make you feel warm inside, like you are all that matters.  I think this chance encounter, in a dream, was the start of new beginnings.  Up until this point I always thought things would fall back into place, not now, but maybe years from now.  Now I know, I need to move on and start from scratch.  I've done it before, I'll do it again.  Until then maybe we'll meet in my dreams, or maybe, in yours.

Man I sound like a girl... Damn I hate being a hopeless romantic...

So I guess all I can say is

Keep dreaming space cowboys...

Strike Us Like Matches, 'Cause Everyone Deserves The Flame...'

I just love how things tend to fall on my lap all at once, and at the worst times.  Is it just me?  Maybe all the time is the worst time, and I just don't see it till it's here.  With friends and family like this who needs sanity.  Am I right or am I right?1!

I think I'm going to go running...

The Jokes on You

Thanks Palin for being on top of things, where would John McCain be without you?

The fact that Obama is not mopping the floor with the McCain/Palin ticket says how dumb this country is...

I'd like that.

So, this past few weeks, I have been thinking about relationships.  Over these past few weeks my opinion/stance on relationships have been all over the block, plant, and galaxy.  After lots of thought, discussion, and self contemplation I have come to the conclusion that:

Jacob Deaven does not want a relationship.

For those of you who know me this may be a shock.  I used to be the biggest proponent of relationships, but, now, I'm joining the "I'd like that" platform.  After lots of mediation on my last relationship I have come to the conclusion that everything went to fast.  As I pondered I remember a quote off a John Mayer DVD.  I could type the entire thing here, but I'm lazy and tired. It can easily be found on youtube.  The gist of the anecdote is that if you let your relationship grow to fast it will have nothing to do but collapse on it's self.  So, he suggests that you should savor your relationship and take your time.

That leads to the current plan.  I'm only 20.  I have lots of life to live, lots of travels to experience, and lots of lessons to learn.  I'm going to enjoy life ,and when it comes time for a serious relationship, down the line, then I will be ready for it.  Until then I'm going to live life one day at a time and see where it takes me.

Viva la Vida

Relax, Relapse Inc. Presents "The Sara Palin Show"

Tonight as I watched Sara Palin address the Republican National Convention one idea came into my head.  Her family would make a great ABC Family program.  With great shows like "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," there should be lots of viewers eager to see a similar program.

This idea came to me kind of as a joke, but the more I watched her the more it just seemed to fit.  It has similar hooks to "The Secret Life of the American Teenager."  For example, both shows would feature pregnant teens and siblings with special needs, but only "The Sara Palin Show" would feature the rise of a mother moving from PTA, where she takes out the sex education and puts back in prayer back in our schools, to candidate for Vice president where she can run on her 20 months of experience.  Each episode could feature cutaways from Bristol Palin's belly, a boy friend who talks about how much he "fucking loves hockey," and of course Sara Palin's adorable accent.  How could this show go wrong?

I understand this is a low blow on a political candidate attacking not only her, but her family and their friends.  But, really I just don't care.  I don't understand how she took the stage at the RNC and got the applause for the shit that comes out of her mouth.  I really don't care about how she sold her jet and fired her cook, but those would make great episodes of TSPS.  I can't believe McCain picked Sara Palin when he had candidates like Rudy Giuliani and Mit Romney eager for the job.  For the love of god please don't let this joke of a politician be our first woman president.

yea I'm bitter, it's just one of those weeks...

Hey It Could Be Worse

As bad of a week as I'm having, things could be worse.  I could be John McCain.  I used to think highly of him (for a republican at least), but now it's more pity.  Don't get me wrong I'm an Obama guy, but I think we could all say a prayer for John McCain.  The guy has tried so hard to be president, and this year when he was as close as ever, it is all falling apart.  he is down in the polls and probably made the worst VP pick possible, except for may be a retarded goat.

I'm there for ya buddy
